| Returnity OnLine puts an Internet front-end on the powerful
features provided by Returnity+. Users can
browse for a listing of found items. Since Returnity OnLine provides
a "Reserve Description" field that is used to store descriptive
information that is not published to the web, concern that
ill-intentioned individuals can successfully "shop" for items they do not own is
eliminated. For, example, while the online listing may include a
Canon digital camera that was found in the main library, the reserve
description would further describe it as a "Canon 7 mega pixel Powershot
SD550 digital camera, black body with leather carrying case.
Carrying case has torn strap.". This latter information would not appear on the
web but would be required of an individual claiming the item.

form used for data entry, please

An online user may also enter information
regarding a lost item. Records of lost items that have been entered
online are subsequently downloaded to the mainline Returnity OnLine
application. As they are transferred to the onsite database, the
software's powerful matching features automatically search for a
match among items that have been reported as found. Potential
matches are brought forward for review by the lost & found
administrator.
Since online users are able to view found items and can enter records for lost
items, institutions that use Returnity OnLine for lost and found
management can expect a substantial decrease in the number of calls to their lost
and found
administrator.
Returnity OnLine
functions onsite as a fully operational lost, found, and evidence
management system with full tracking and high security. After
records that were entered online have been transferred to the
mainline database, they are absorbed in the feature-rich environment
provided by Returnity OnLine.
Files are moved to and from the online site with the click of
menu buttons; it is as simple as that.
